Gambler loses staggering $344,000 on Princeton’s March Madness upset

March Madness has had everything this year.

It has had wild, unforgettable bad beats, shocking underdog victories and some people who cashed in big.

The world was shocked to see Princeton win 78-63 over Missouri on Saturday and get a Sweet 16 appearance – but not everyone loved watching those pesky Ivy leaguers pull off a second upset.

Thinking Missouri was going to roll through the Princeton Tigers, one bettor put a boat load of money on a Missouri -6.5/Alabama ML parlay.

Betting on March Madness 2025?

The bet was placed at Beau Rivage Resort and Casino in Biloxi, Mississippi, with a massive ticket cost of $344,126.

With Alabama routing Maryland 73-51. the ticket would have profited $458,834.65 had Missouri held up their end of the bargain.

But Princeton has proven to be a difficult matchup in the March Madness 2023 tournament.

Blake Peters drained five 3-pointers to help Princeton roll to the victory.

It allowed the Ivy League champs to follow up Thursday’s 59-55 shocking upset over Arizona, the No. 2 seed in the South Region.

“The world looks at us as two upsets,” forward Tosan Evbuomwan said. “But I feel like we’re supposed to be here. We have a lot of confidence in one another, what we’re doing. There’s definitely no letup with this group.”

Princeton now plays Creighton in the Sweet 16.

This bettor was sick of watching the Missouri Tigers clank 3-pointer after 3-pointer while watching Princeton grab 16 offensive rebounds.
