Skylark Bookshop hosting celebration for romance novel lovers

Do you love love when it's on the page? Do you enjoy a story so steamy it melts a little ink? If so, Skylark Bookshop is preparing an event with you at heart.

The Ninth Street shop will celebrate Bookstore Romance Day all day Saturday, Aug. 17. This "annual celebration of all things bookish and romantic" features a number of enticing activities and fun giveaways, as the Skylark website notes.

Here's what you can go home with:

• Every purchase of a romance novel on the 17th will enter the book-buyer in a drawing for a Skylark gift card;
• Any "Golden Tickets" found near the romance section will entitle the winner to a free book from St. Martin's Press;
• Free friendship bracelets as supplies last; and the store encourages you to bring and trade your own.

Book lovers will also be able to design their own romance novel cover at a craft station, and chat with members of Skylark's The New Romantics book club about book clubbing. Romance poems will also be read aloud throughout the day.
