House moving will close portion of Route 61 on Tuesday
Route 61 (Mount Carmel-Centralia Road) will be closed Tuesday, Nov. 28 between Mount Carmel Borough in Northumberland County and Sugarloaf Township in Columbia County as a company moves a frame house. The closure will be between East Fifth Street in Mount Carmel Borough and Myers Street in Centralia, Sugarloaf Township. The house, which is being moved by Wolfe House & Building Movers, LLC, will be a load that is 75-feet long, 33-feet wide, 18-feet high, and weighs 90,000 pounds. A detour using local roads will be in place while the roadway is closed. The load is expected to come through at 9 a.m., weather permitting.
