A Columbia County Detention Center inmate was found dead in his cell Thursday night, but authorities say no foul play is suspected.

Jerry Robert Wisdom, 55, of Appling, was found unresponsive in his cell shortly after 8 p.m., according to a news release from the Columbia County Sheriff's Office. Deputies administered CPR until EMS and Columbia County Fire Rescue arrived. He was later pronounced dead by the Columbia County Coroner's Office.

Wisdom had been in the jail since Oct. 20, after being charged with aggravated child molestation and two counts felony child molestation with a $100,000 bond, according to the release.

Wisdom will be sent to the GBI for an autopsy.

No disputes or grievances with other inmates or jailers were filed by Wisdom during his time at the detention center, according to the sheriff's office.
