Governor Polis Signing Bills into Law to Help Support Youth Mental Health, Foster Youth & Grow Economy 

SILVERTHORNE  - Today, Governor Polis is signing legislation into law.

“From supporting older Coloradans to making sure that Colorado kids have the support and resources they need, we are continuing to take action to make Colorado the best place to live, work, and thrive for all Coloradans. I am proud to sign legislation today in Summit County that builds upon our work to boost local communities, protect our precious water resources, and help Coloradans and visitors safely and efficiently travel across our beautiful state,” said Gov. Polis. 

Governor Polis signed legislation to support Colorado’s hardworking direct care workers with SB23-261 Direct Care Workforce Stabilization Board - Representatives Monica Duran and Jenny Willford, Senators Jessie Danielson and Tony Exum. Governor Polis also signed legislation to make sure Colorado remains one of the best places to live and age, and ensure that older Coloradans can access the health care they need, signing SB23-031 Improve Health-care Access For Older Coloradans - Representatives Brianna Titone and Mandy Lindsay, Senators Jessie Danielson and Lisa Cutter. 

Governor Polis signed SB23-105 Ensure Equal Pay For Equal Work - Representatives Serena Gonzales-Gutierrez and Jennifer Bacon, Senators Jessie Danielson and Janet Buckner to build upon the landmark Equal Pay for Equal Work Act and continue to take important steps to address wage disparities. Fair pay is essential to Colorado’s strong economy, and this legislation helps to make sure that In Colorado people receive equal pay for doing equal work.

Governor Polis also signed legislation to make sure that young Coloradans have the support and resources they need to thrive, including the bipartisan HB23-1269 Extended Stay And Boarding Patients - Representatives Dafna Michaelson Jenet and Serena Gonzales-Gutierrez, Senators Jeff Bridges and Bob Gardner, SB23-082 Colorado Fostering Success Voucher Program - Representatives Judy Amabile and Dafna Michaelson Jenet, Senators Rachel Zenzinger and Barbara Kirkmeyer, and HB23-1024 Relative And Kin Placement Of A Child - Representatives Serena Gonzales-Gutierrez and Elisabeth Epps, Senators Tony Exum and Kevin Van Winkle. 

As part of the Polis administration’s ongoing work in partnership with the legislature to increase mental and behavioral health services for students and young people across Colorado, Gov. Polis signed HB23-1003 School Mental Health Assessment - Representative Dafna Michaelson Jenet and Lisa Cutter. This legislation improves screening for students in middle and high school to ensure they can get connected to mental health resources as soon as possible. 

This afternoon at the Silverthorne Days Inn, Governor Polis will sign the bipartisan HB23-1287 County Regulation Related To Short-term Rentals - Representatives Julie McCluskie and Meghan Lukens, Senators Dylan Roberts and Perry Will to create more transparency for local Colorado communities’ short-term rental markets. Governor Polis will also sign HB23-1304 Proposition 123 Affordable Housing Programs - Representatives Julie McCluskie and Lisa Frizell, Senators Dylan Roberts and Tony Exum to best carry out the will of Colorado voters in the implementation of Proposition 123 and help create greater flexibility for Colorado’s mountain communities. 

This afternoon in Frisco, Gov. Polis will sign the bipartisan HB23-1267 Double Fines Speeding Trucks On Steep Grades - Representatives Julie McCluskie and Matt Soper, Senators Dylan Roberts and Perry Will to keep Colorado roads safe and make sure that Coloradans and visitors can get where they want to go safely and efficiently. 

At the Swan River Restoration Project, Gov. Polis will sign bipartisan legislation to protect waterways and water projects across our state, as well as the animals that live within them, including SB23-270 Projects To Restore Natural Stream Systems - Representatives Karen McCormick and Marc Caitlin, Senators Dylan Roberts and Cleave Simpson, HB23-1274 Species Conservation Trust Fund Projects - Representatives Karen McCormick and Marc Catlin, Senators Dylan Roberts and Perry Will, and SB23-177 2023 Colorado Water Conservation Board Water Projects Appropriations - Representatives Karen McCormick and Marc Catlin, Senators Dylan Roberts and Cleave Simpson.
