Deaton and Mascagni Earn ITA Mountain Region Awards

USAF ACADEMY, Colo. - Recent graduate Jonathan Mascagni and rising sophomore Phillip Deaton of Air Force men's tennis earned Intercollegiate Tennis Association regional awards, announced today by the ITA. Mascagni earned the Arthur Ashe Leadership & Sportsmanship Award and Deaton was named Mountain Region Newcomer of the Year.
Mascagni battled through an injury all season, battling back to earn All-Mountain West doubles honors. He finished the season with 20 wins.
Deaton had a breakout rookie season, going 27-7 in singles and leading the team with 44 combined wins. He was the 2023 Mountain West Men's Tennis Freshman of the Year and All-MW singles honoree.
It is the third straight season that an Air Force tennis won the Mountain Region Ashe Award.
