COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. (KKTV) - Colorado Springs police responded to a disturbance call at a soccer game around 5:30 Sunday evening.

According to police, the situation started when a ref “red-flagged” one of the teams, angering some in the crowd, who began fighting.

“Apparently, someone didn’t agree with what the referee was saying or something like that,” said Sgt. Dale Peterson with CSPD.

Officers responding to the scene at Cross Peak View and New Life Drive were told as many as 20 people were involved in the brawl.

“It escalated into rocks being thrown, and a person got stabbed,” Peterson told 11 News.

Along with the stabbing victim, several others were hit by rocks, and at least one person was punched in the head. Police tell 11 News at least four people were taken to the hospital, but that none of their injuries were considered life-threatening.

“We know that people get pretty wound up during sports events. It doesn’t need to come to this we need to accept what happens and move on,” stated Peterson.

Police have arrested two people involved in the fight and are still in the process of interviewing witnesses.
