“Officers learned that a male in a wheelchair was rolling down the sidewalk firing rounds from a handgun,” a police lieutenant wrote on the CSPD blotter.

Police say that man wasn’t targeting any homes in particular, but still ended up hitting four houses.

“Officers checked these residences to determine that there were no injured parties as a result of the random gunfire,” the lieutenant said.

The suspect, identified by police as Michael Laino, was be booked into the El Paso County jail on multiple counts of illegal discharge of a firearm and prohibited use of weapons. Jail records Monday morning indicate he remains in custody on a $2,000 bond.

This was one of multiple shootings that kept Springs-area law enforcement busy overnight. Police arrested one man accused of shooting a gun and damaging property with his truck, as well as another man allegedly shooting off a firearm while being driven around by a suspected DUI driver.

No injuries were reported in those shootings; however, another shooting outside the city claimed one victim, a woman who later died at an area hospital.
