2 injured in self-reported shooting north of downtown Colorado Springs Friday night

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. (KKTV) - Two people were in the hospital Friday evening following a fight that ended in a shooting in a neighborhood just southeast of I-25 and Fillmore in Colorado Springs.

Colorado Springs Police told 11 News that officers were called to the Santa Fe Trail in the area of a commercial business just west of the intersection of Tremont and West Van Buren Streets on reports of a shooting around 6:50 p.m. Police said there, officers found both the suspect and victim down near Monument Creek, with the victim suffering one gunshot wound police said was non-life threatening.

CSPD told 11 News Friday night that the man who called the shooting in was the one who pulled the trigger, and he remained at the scene for officers. According to police, that person had also suffered visible injuries. Both involved parties were taken to local hospitals for treatment.

It’s unclear if any charges have been filed, as police told our crews the investigation is in its early stages.

As of Saturday morning, no arrests had been made, and the investigation was still ongoing.
