The town supervisor of Colonie issuing a statement tonight- saying New York City Mayor Eric Adams will send at least one busload of migrants from the city, to the Sure Stay Best Western motel in Colonie.
He cites the Albany County executive for this supposed decision.
Peter Crummey says because of the lack of communication, the decision flies directly in the face of the state of emergency declared by Albany County Executive Dan McCoy over the migrant crisis.
He went on to say Mayor Adams had no regard for the Colonie community and the hotel in question, saying, "the referenced site has been a hotbed of police activity, where in the past 18 months our police have responded to no less than 244 calls at that location. Obviously, Mayor Adams pays no heed for the welfare of the persons subject to his forced busing catastrophe."
The city of Albany responded to us tonight, saying, "the facts are the City of New York put asylum seekers on a bus and chose Wolf Road. The city of New York is paying for those hotel rooms, as well as the food and services needed."
We've reached out to both police and Albany County for comment, but have not yet heard back.
