COLONIAL HEIGHTS – Police have released the identity of a woman found shot to death April 18 at a riverside park.

Police Sgt. Desiree McCurry said 36-year-old Cynthia Chante’ “Cint” Solomon of Hopewell was discovered by a boater on the bank at Roslyn Landing Park. That boater told police he was fishing on the Appomattox River about 5 a.m. when he heard a gunshot followed by the sound of something hitting the water. He went in the direction of the noise and found what he thought was a body submerged in the river.

The witness also told police he saw the headlights of a car pull away from the scene.

The victim’s body was taken to the state medical examiner’s office and identified the next day as Solomon. Her death was ruled a homicide.

No suspect information has been released.

According to an online obituary, Solomon had two daughters. Her memorial service is set for 1 p.m. Saturday at Tucker Celebration of Life Chapel in Petersburg.
