Colonial Beach, Va. (Newsradiowrva.com) - State Police say a small plane has crashed in Colonial Beach, killing both people on board. Sergeant Jessica Shehan says a Vans R6 model single-engine plane crashed in a cornfield, and caught fire.

The two people on board, Logan Edward Woodworth, 28, and his passenger, Bruce Edward Woodworth, 57, both died in the crash. They are from Wilmington, N.C., but are originally from the Northern Neck.

This crash follows the crash Sunday of a Cessna in the western Virginia mountains. The Sunday crash triggered alerts in Washington, D.C., because of the route the plane took. The NTSB and the FAA are investigating both crashes.
