Roadside bakery has a lot of sweetness to offer in Chesterfield
Chesterfield resident Dehja Ryder operates an adorable, honor system, roadside bakery with a variety of baked goods, candy, stickers, greeting cards and more. Dehja Made, her baking business, also offers custom decorated cookies. "It opened as a roadside stand in March 2025," Ryder, a self-taught baker, said. "I quickly outgrew that, and the bakery opened July 2025. I saw the idea online and really wanted to do it." The sweet delights vary each weekend. Ryder bakes cookies, brownies, cake, cinnamon rolls, cupcakes and more. The top three requested Dehja Made baked creations are brownies, decorated cookies and cookie sandwiches. This reporter purchased a huge, heavy Biscoff cookie bar. I was going to ration it over four days; however, I ate the entire thing in less than 24 hours. It was truly amazing! Congratulations! USA TODAY named its Restaurants of the Year. This Colonial Heights favorite on the list Ryder's husband built the cute, roadside bakery, about the size of a garden shed. Convenient parking spaces are provided. "I have a cash box as well as QR codes to scan for payment," Ryder said. Currently, she only takes preorders for the bakery on certain holidays. Colonial Heights eatery offers all-you-can-eat, interactive dining
A restaurant in Colonial Heights hosted its grand opening on Jan. 31. The new Tri-Cities food venue is a great place to bond with friends and family. Hot Pot 757 offers an interactive, all-you-can-eat dining experience that merges traditional hot pot and Korean barbecue flavors. Diners get to create their own feasts using in-built table grills and hot pots. There is a two-hour time limit, which flies by when you’re having fun. New to this dining concept? No worries. The servers offer guidance, and each table is presented with a chart that recommends hot pot and Korean barbecue cook times for meats, vegetables, noodles, tofu, seafood, dumplings, etc. Choosing from the 110-plus all-you-can-eat items may be overwhelming, but keep in mind, you are the chef. Darlyn, my server ... or should I say sous chef ..., was very attentive and knowledgeable. She and my son, who was no stranger to Hot Pot 757, offered advice to this newbie.
