State not seeking death for man accused of killing Smith County pastor
TYLER, Texas (KLTV) - State prosecutors announced Friday they will not seek the death penalty for a man accused of killing a Smith County pastor in 2021. Mytrez Deunte Woolen, 24, of Arlington, was arrested in January of 2021 in connection with the shooting death of Mark McWilliams, 62, the pastor of Starrville Methodist Church in Winona. Woolen is suspected of a shooting incident that injured others at the church in addition to McWilliams.
