Jerry Edwards was recommended for the position of the boys athletic coordinator and head football coach at Colleyville High School.

The move was made during a special Grapevine-Colleyville ISD board of trustee meeting March 20 at Hotel Vine in Grapevine.

Edwards will join GCISD after serving as the head football coach at Harker Heights High School—in Killeen ISD—since 2013, going 53-55.

“Coach Edwards has built a successful program and brand vertically, across the school and within the community in all sports,” GCISD Executive Director of Athletics Todd Raymond said in a press release. “He brings so much passion and energy to the campus and community, and we’re looking forward to his positive contribution to CHHS.”

Edwards will replace Kirk Martin, who resigned last month to take a similar football head coaching job in Manvel. Martin was 28-7 in three years at the helm.

Edwards guided the Knights to a 12-2 record this year, a fourth straight trip to the playoffs. His squad lost to eventual champion DeSoto in the 6A-Division II Regional II final this past season. He was the District 12-6A Coach of the Year in 2022.

Edwards has also coached as an assistant at Mansfield, Milano and Fort Bend Clements.

A native of Quitman, Edwards earned his bachelor and master’s degrees from Texas A&M.
