WE'LL CONTINUE TO FOLLOW THIS STORY AS WE GET MORE INFORMATION. COLCHESTER POLICE ARE INVESTIGATING AFTER A CAR HIT A CHILD JUST BEFORE 3-30 THIS AFTERNOON. THIS HAPPENED AT THE INTERSECTION OF BLAKELY ROAD AND WEST LAKESHORE DRIVE. POLICE FOUND THE BOY LYING ON THE GROUND WHEN THEY GOT THERE. HE WAS TAKEN TO THE UVM MEDICAL CENTER FOR NON-LIFE- THREATENING INJURIES. ACCORDING TO OFFICIALS, WITNESSES SAY THE CAR HAD A GREEN LIGHT WHEN THE BOY CROSSED THE ROAD AND WAS HIT. Colchester police are investigating after they say a boy was hit by a car Saturday at 3:23 p.m. at the intersection of Blakely Road and West Lakeshore Drive.The boy was transported to the UVM Medical Center with non-life-threatening injuries. Police say the car was traveling southbound on West Lakeshore Drive toward Blakely Road when the boy crossed the road from the lake side in front of the vehicle. Officials say the intersection is controlled by a traffic control signal and that witnesses say the driver had a green light. Officials say there's no evidence that speed or impairment are factors in this crash. Witnesses to this incident are asking to call Cpl. Jaime Bressler at 802-264-5555.
