Edgar declares State of Emergency following severe storm damage
EDGAR, Wis. (WSAW) - The village of Edgar is now under a state of emergency due to extensive storm damage. The village board made the decision Friday. “The state of emergency is just a public acknowledgment that we had some severe damage to the village, and it was greater than just your normal storm,” Village Administrator Jennifer Lopez said.

Colby makes trio of new additions to Hall of Fame
The Colby School District added three more inductees to their Hall of Fame, announcing the new additions at the high school’s graduation ceremony on Friday. Nancy Marcott was a dedicated educator in the Dorchester/ Colby School district for 37 years. She started her career in education as a music teacher at Dorchester Elementary in 1980. During Marcott’s tenure as music teacher in Dorchester, she shared her musical talents, arranged music for concerts each year, and taught her students how to love music through the passion she showed in the classroom. She continued as a teacher until 2002 when she became principal of Colby High/Middle School, a position she held until her retirement in 2010. Marcott had a passion for education, and it showed at every level of her career. She was honored with the Wisconsin Title I Association’s Outstanding Administrator of the Year Award in 2007. Retiring as principal was not the end of Marcott’s service to the Colby School District. In the fall of 2010, she returned to the hallways of Colby’s buildings working with staff as Curriculum Director, a role she fulfilled until 2017.

Everest picked up an 11-0 win in six innings over Marshfield to advance to play New Richmond in sectionals. 2 injured in weekend motorcycle crash, driver faces OWI charge
Two people were injured, one seriously, in a crash Sunday in Portage County that involved alcohol, officials said. The crash was reported just before 6:30 p.m. on County WW in the town of Grant. Multiple emergency responders and deputies were dispatched to the crash scene, which involved a single vehicle.
