A woman faces multiple charges, including cyberstalking and burglary with assault, after allegedly pepper-spraying an ex-boyfriend who refused to communicate with her.

According to the arrest report, the victim contacted the Coconut Creek Police Department on May 29 to report his ex-girlfriend, later identified as Melissa Rodriguez, 21, of Boca Raton, confronted and assaulted him while he attempted to enter his vehicle.

The victim told officers the assault happened outside his  Monarch Station home, a gated community located at 4901 West Sample Road. Rodriguez had been previously banned from following a trespassing incident in February.

Despite being banned from the community, the victim told police Rodriguez snuck her way into the community and confronted him as he approached his vehicle.

The victim told officers that as he attempted to enter his car and close the driver-side door, Rodriguez forcibly prevented him from doing so and intentionally sprayed an unknown substance into his eyes.

The report shows that the victim suffered extreme burning, severe redness, irritation, and a temporary loss of vision due to the attack. Coconut Creek Fire Rescue arrived and administered initial medical treatment for his injuries.

After recovering, the victim explained to officers that following the couple’s breakup in late 2022, he had blocked Rodriguez on all social media platforms and even instructed his cellphone provider to restrict calls and texts from unknown numbers. However, Rodriguez had for months been repeatedly contacting him from different phone numbers.

The victim told officers following their breakup, Rodriguez had cyberstalked and harassed him, including the incident in February that led to her being banned from entering the Monarch Station community.

After completing their interview with the victim following his recovery from his injuries, Rodriguez was arrested on June 1 by Broward County Sheriff’s Office deputies at her place of employment, the Hard Rock Hollywood Hotel, and transported to the Broward County Main Jail.
