When Tampa Bay drivers should hit the road for Labor Day
Stay off the roads Friday afternoon to avoid the worst Labor Day weekend traffic, according to forecasts from AAA and INRIX. Why it matters: Peak holiday congestion could add serious time to your trip . Driving the news : It'll take you nearly three hours to drive Orlando if you leave Friday at 3:45pm, according to INRIX, a transportation data firm that works with AAA to calculate travel times . If you must leave Friday, go before noon if possible. Traffic on Monday will be the worst between 2-5pm. Sunday is expected to be the easiest day to drive, per INRIX. The big picture : Road trippers also face higher gas prices this Labor Day than last year, when the national average was $3.19 a gallon, according to AAA. Gas prices in Tampa Bay now hover at nearly $4 a gallon. The bottom line: When in doubt, hit the road early.

Highway route bisects land family has occupied since 1940s | Exclusive
(This article was revised to add a missing word.) She has written twice to Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis, she said. The agency revealed four potential corridors in 2025, eventually narrowing the choices to two. When the Turnpike Enterprise announced in December that it had selected Corridor F , Garrett realized with alarm that the route would cross through her family’s property along Carl Boozer Road. The agency released the first detailed maps of the road alignment in virtual and public meetings starting Aug. 24. The maps confirmed that the planned highway would bisect Garrett’s property. Garrett, 74, choked up several times as she discussed the state’s plans during a phone interview. She said she attended an open house in
