Johns Hopkins Women's Track & Field Team Starts Season Strong with Multiple Wins at TCNJ and Sharon Colyear Danville Openers
The Johns Hopkins women's track and field team started their season at the TCNJ Opener in New York, performing well in eight events. Last season's standout, Lauren Phillips, secured first place in the 60 and 300-meter races. Freshman Chloe Zhang followed closely, taking second place in the 60-meter race. Annie Huang, a junior, also started strong, finishing second in the 600-meters. In the mile race, Emma Kothari, Lily Sheth, Kaitlin Ness, and Diana Valentini ranked 6-9, with Cameron Coletti and Eleni Alvarez finishing soon after.

ANNAPOLIS, Md. – The Calvert Cavaliers played tough but couldn’t secure a win against the undefeated Dunbar Poets in Friday’s 2A/1A Maryland State Championship game. The two teams took the field at Navy-Marine Corps Memorial Stadium this afternoon in rainy conditions. The game was scoreless at halftime. By the end of the third quarter, Dunbar was up by 8 points and that would be all of the points scored. Final score Dunbar 8, Calvert 0 – giving the Poets their 13th state championship win.

The Dunbar Poets won their record-setting 13th Maryland state football championship 8-0 in a rain-drenched defensive struggle against the Calvert Cavaliers. The lone touchdown of the game was scored by Antonio Lyde in the third quarter. Offense was hard to come by both teams and defense was the name of the game this day, especially by Dunbar who only gave up 71 points all year. The Poets completed their third straight undefeated championship season and extended their current winning streak to 35 games. They finished the 2023 campaign 11-0.
