SUNDOWN —Coahoma’s John Reagan and Tres Vasquez placed fourth in their individual weight classes at the Region I, Division 3 powerlifting meet on Saturday.
Reagan, a senior at Coahoma High School, capped off his high school career with a three-lift total of 1,120 pounds, which consisted of 400 on squat, 320 on bench, 400 on deadlift, in the SHW division. In the 123s, Vasquez, a sophomore, hoisted 895 total pounds of iron, which included 330 on squat, 205 on bench, and 360 on deadlift.
Overall, it was a stand out day for the Coahoma Bulldog powerlifting program, which finished its season at the regional competition. Head Coach Coley Dobbs reported all five Coahoma lifters reached a personal record on at least one of their lifts.
The rest of the results for the Coahoma team are as follows:
Bryce Davis (123s) lifted 805 (280 squat, 190 bench, 335 dead lift) for seventh place;
Brandon Cortez (132s) lifted 860 (325 squat, 195 bench, 340 dead lift) for 10th place; and
Cloud Arriola (220s) lifted 1,205 (500 squat, 265 bench, and 440 dead lift) for eighth place
