Seattle Family Narrowly Escapes Central District Apartment Fire, Two Firefighters Injured
A mother and her three children were within an inch of tragedy on Wednesday when they escaped a raging apartment fire in Seattle's Central District, gripping onto life and luck as they sought refuge in a nearby fire station. The blaze, which ripped through their apartment building at around 5:42 p.m., was spotted by eagle-eyed firefighters from Station 6 who sprang into action to douse the flames originating from the 2600 block of S. Jackson St., as reported by Fireline Seattle.
Scene in Edmonds: Octopus find
While on her walk along the Edmonds Pier Saturday, photographer Julia Wiese noticed two excited young boys with their father. The Lake Stevens residents, Eshaan and Nahyan, had just pulled up an octopus using squid as bait. Earlier they caught a rat fish. Both the rat fish and the octopus were returned to the water.

The Word Alive has played dozens of shows over the past few years, criss-crossing the globe, promoting their latest EP, Hard Reset, (released Aug ’23), and fans in Seattle were finally able to see and hear them perform some songs off that release here last Sunday on Mother’s Day at Showbox SODO. What was originally supposed to be held at The Showbox, the event sold out so quickly that they made the decision to switch venues in order to allow more fans to see the show. (This is not always the case, so fans should be grateful they were able to make that happen.) They are currently wrapping up dates with Memphis May Fire and Nerv, supporting Asking Alexandria’s, “All My Friends”, North American tour. Although they played second in the night’s lineup, fans were at the ready with the venue being near capacity by the time they took the stage.
Public health inspectors review practices at restaurant after outbreak
Illnesses among patrons of Coho Cafe in Issaquah, WA, spurred an investigation by public health officials, which is being reported on now. Reports of sick people All had symptoms suggesting norovirus infection, according the Seattle & King County Public Health Department. The department could not find a specific food or drink item that could have been the cause of the outbreak, which included six people.
'Caged in like animals': King County sets up fencing around homeless encampment in Burien
BURIEN, Wash. - King County has set up fencing around dozens of tents at 6th Avenue SW and SW 149th Street in Burien. The encampment is adjacent to the Burien Courthouse parking lot. Campers say they were ordered to move from parts of the lot on Wednesday before fencing went up Thursday morning.
