Access to Mill Mountain Star restricted as crews install new bulbs
ROANOKE, Va. (WFXR) — The City of Roanoke announced access to the Mill Mountain Star will be restricted on May 24, as crews replace light bulbs. From 7 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Friday, all access to the observation deck in front of the star will be blocked off. The city says crews are replacing neon light bulbs that will require a large, boom-style lift.
Roanoke police pursuit ends in fatal crash
Virginia State Police are investigating after a pursuit in Roanoke ended in a fatal crash early Thursday, according to the Roanoke Police Department. RPD said at around 1:05 a.m. Thursday, a Roanoke police officer was on routine patrol in the area of 5th Street NW and Shenandoah Avenue NW when the officer saw a vehicle driving recklessly, and driving with headlights and taillights off.

Thousands still without power in ABC13 viewing area after storm damage
(WSET) — UPDATE:. As of 5 p.m. on Monday, the AEP Outages Map is still reporting thousands of customers without power in the ABC13 viewing area. About a thousand of those cases are in the Lynchburg area and another thousand in Roanoke. The surrounding areas around both cities are also reporting several outage pockets.

ROANOKE, Va. (WDBJ) - A man was found guilty Friday, May 24 by a jury of multiple charges involving the 2019 homicide of Salonya Evans, according to Roanoke Police Department. In 2019, Roanoke Police arrested and charged 32-year-old Kai Lansana in connection to the death of 24-year-old Salonya Evans which happened on the 900 block of Morehead Ave SE Roanoke.
