Instruction: If outdoors, consider seeking shelter inside a building. Central Clinch County is currently being affected by strong thunderstorms, according to radar observations at 513 PM EDT. These storms are moving south at a rate of 5 mph and are accompanied by wind gusts of approximately 40 mph. The main hazard of these storms is the potential for gusty winds to cause damage by knocking down tree limbs and blowing around unsecured objects. Homerville is the primary location impacted by these thunderstorms. No hail has been reported, and the maximum wind gust recorded is 40 mph.
Maidens win region game over rival Clinch County
The Charlton County softball team evened their record at 4-4 and improved to 4-0 in Region 2-A play after knocking off Clinch County 5-1 last week in Folkston. The game between rivals from opposite sides of the swamp was scoreless until the Maidens finally broke through in the bottom of the fourth inning. With two outs Abby Crews was hit by a pitch and Callie Carter reached on a error. A passed ball advanced both runners up a base before EmmaRae Roberson’s infield single and a Clinch error scored both runners for a 2-0 lead.
