WATCH: Bratenahl police chase ends in crash, arrest

CLEVELAND (WJW) — Bratenahl police officers’ pursuit of a stolen pickup — which sped past them on Interstate 90 at speeds above 100 mph — ended with a crash in Cleveland early Tuesday morning.

Officers first spotted the stolen Ram truck when it flew past them on I-90 at about 3:30 a.m. Tuesday, June 6, according to a news release.

They tried to pull the vehicle over, but it fled, crashing into the porch of an apartment building along East 40th Street near Case Court in Cleveland.

The driver and two others fled the truck on foot. The driver, later identified as Markeise Billups, 19, of Cleveland, was caught after a foot chase, according to the release.

Inside the vehicle, officers found a stolen pistol and a rifle-caliber pistol.

Billups is now in the Cuyahoga County Jail facing charges of failure to comply with a police order, improper handling of a firearm and receiving stolen property.
