Cleveland Police: 1 dead, 1 injured in east side shooting

CLEVELAND, Ohio (WOIO) - Cleveland police confirmed one person died and another person was hospitalized following a shooting on the city’s East Side on Saturday.

Cleveland Police Sgt. Jennifer Ciaccia said the shooting occurred at around 8 p.m. in the 5700 block of Dibble Avenue, in the city’s Hough neighborhood.

Police found a 19-year-old man at the scene who suffered a gunshot wound to the head. As the victim lay lifeless on the ground, he still had a gun with an extended magazine in his hand. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

The victim has been identified by the Cuyahoga County Medical Examiner’s Office as Bemetrius Hargrove.

Officials also said the shooting injured another man, who suffered a gunshot wound to his side.

That man’s condition is unknown.

Police said the shooting is still under investigation, and more details will be released as they are received.
