A late night shooting in Cleveland’s Forest Hills neighborhood, on East 123rd Street—between the intersection of Iowa Avenue and St. Clair Avenue, left one dead and several others in critical condition, 19 News reported.

Officers discovered that four victims were affected by the shooting, prompting a medical response. The four victims were transported to University Hospital Medical Center in critical condition, a spokesperson for Cleveland EMS confirmed.

Cleveland Police initially responded to the intersection of Eddy Road and St. Clair Avenue for a crash at around 11:30 p.m. However, as officers responded, a man drove up to them and stated that he and three others were shot on East 123rd Street.

A 31-year-old woman was later pronounced dead at the hospital after suffering a gunshot wound to the body.

The other three survivors reported the following injuries: a 24-year-old woman and 29-year-old man suffered gunshot wounds to the leg, and a 27-year-old man suffered a gunshot wound to the hand.

A preliminary investigation found that the victims were shot in the 400 block of East 123rd Street when occupants in a dark-colored vehicle drove by and fired shots at the four people. Multiple shell casings were also found in the area.

It is currently unknown if anyone was arrested for the incident.

“All they said is that she had been shot, but I had no idea it was a girl. Then she said my chest hurts and everybody was on the phone calling 911″ Mamie Blaney, a neighbor who knew the victims, said.

“I knew something was going to happen last night because they started having firecrackers early, but I’m so sad I hope to God, they make it,” Blaney continued.

“Terrible loss. I don’t even know what to say. It’s just getting worse in Cleveland,” another neighbor said.
