Woman dies, 3 wounded, in second major shooting within a week in Cleveland

Four people were shot Wednesday in the 400 block of East 123rd Street in Cleveland.

CLEVELAND, Ohio – A woman was killed and three other people were hurt Wednesday in Cleveland’s second major shooting incident in a week.

Neither police nor the office of the Cuyahoga County medical examiner has identified the 31-year-old woman who died in the attack.

At 11:30 p.m., police responded to Eddy Road and St. Clair Avenue for a car crash in the city’s Forest Hills neighborhood.

While officers were there, a 27-year-old man drove up and said he and others were just shot in the 400 block of East 123rd Street. Officers administered aid to the man before paramedics took him to University Hospitals. He was treated for a gunshot wound to the hand.

When officers arrived at the scene, they found the woman with multiple gunshot wounds to her body. A 24-year-old woman and a 29-year-old man also had been shot, police said.

Paramedics took them to University Hospitals, where the 31-year-old woman died.

Police discovered that the four victims were shot by a person in a dark-colored vehicle.

No arrests have been made. Police have not identified any suspects.

Homicide detectives will handle the investigation.

This is the second major shooting incident in less than a week on Cleveland’s East Side. On Saturday, four men were shot outside of Mac’s Sports Bar and Grill on Harvard Avenue. It is unknown if any arrests have been made.

So far this year, the city has recorded at least 76 homicides. That number could change pending results from the medical examiner’s office.
