Cleveland High School quarterback Jackson Byrd has his first Division I football offer, and there are likely more to come.

Miami (OH) University became the first Division I school to extend an offer to Byrd, he announced on his Twitter account.

A member of the Class of 2025, Byrd started at quarterback as a sophomore last season for the Rams. He completed 181-of-288 passes for 2,831 yards and 36 touchdowns with five interceptions. Byrd had a completion percentage of 62.8% and averaged 235.9 yards per game through the air.

Byrd was also the second-leading rusher for Cleveland, posting 549 yards and 14 touchdowns on 77 carries. He had more rushing touchdowns than any other player on the team last season.

Byrd is listed at 6-foot and 180 pounds. He helped the Rams to an 11-1 record last fall, including an undefeated mark in conference play. Cleveland lost to Rolesville in the second round of the 4A state playoffs, 28-21.

The Rams open the 2023 season on Friday, Aug. 18, with a road game at Hoggard.
