CLARKSVILLE, TN (CLARKSVILLE NOW) – The 184 lockers at Northeast High School, which were scheduled to be returned to the donor this week, will stay at the school after all.

After reading about the situation on Clarksville Now, an owner of a local business reached out to see if he could help.

He spoke with the donor of the lockers, Cece Eurales, and the business agreed to buy the lockers for $4,000 then donate them to the Clarksville-Montgomery County School System.

However, the business had to pull out of the agreement due to unforeseen circumstances.

“We wrote official invoices and letters – lawyer approved – yet the local company backed out at the last minute, after we told the school to keep the lockers,” Eurales said.

Eurales had already told CMCSS they could plan on keeping the lockers, so she decided to go ahead and write off the lockers as a donation to Northeast High School.

“So once again, the school wins because they get 184 lockers for the students for free. Yet again, in the end I lose because I’m out $4,000 – money I was told would be given back, minus the $1,000 our family donated towards the total cost,” she said.

“Never again will I do anything like this. But I am very happy the students get to have lockers to store their items.”

After hearing of the donation, Northeast High and CMCSS said they are grateful for the lockers, adding that there are plans to do more improvements at the school.

“The CMCSS Operations Department has developed plans to secure a surplus building for a new general athletics facility at Northeast High School for football and other athletics to open in the 2024-2025 school year,” CMCSS spokesperson Anthony Johnson told Clarksville Now.

“The Northeast High School football team will remain in the current space for the 2023-2024 school year. However, that space will be converted back to a Career Technical Education classroom, its original purpose, with the opening of the new general athletics facility.

“The donated lockers will benefit students now and in the future,” he said.
