CLARKSVILLE, TN (CLARKSVILLE NOW) – The section of North Second Street beside the F&M Bank Arena will remain closed for a while longer, as crews inspect the road for possible damage from arena construction.

Mark Riggins, interim director of the Clarksville Street Department, told Clarksville Now that a consultant will be checking on the condition of the street between Main Street and College Street, to see whether any repairs are needed. The consultant will also determine who should pay, if repairs are needed.

“We do not plan to reopen Second Street until the inspection and any associated repairs are complete and we repave,” Riggins said.

Pedestrian crossings

As these repairs are being made, the City of Clarksville will soon have pedestrian crossings with signals at Second and College (all four corners, next to Shelby’s Trio) and at Third and College.

“Seeing what the future holds for this area, we decided it would be better to go ahead and begin that process, in lieu of waiting until next budget year,” Riggins said.

Riggins told Clarksville Now the goal is for the pedestrian crossings to be completed by the end of July.
