CLARKSVILLE, TN – Clarksville American Legion Post 289 recently elected a new slate of officers for the post to serve from July 2023 through July 2024.
Elected were Marc Mathes as Post Commander, Tony Saluzzo as First Vice Commander, Ernest A. Schmidt as Second Vice Commander, Bob Grigsby as Adjutant, Tom Johnson as Sergeant of Arms, Paul Pavlovich Finance Officer, and Beverly McLaughlin as Service Officer. Kenneth Hankinson was also voted as Service Officer.
Appointed officers by the commander are Beverly Mclaughlin as Women’s Veteran Chairperson, Andy Berard as Judge Advocate, Carmen Cherry as Chaplain, and Jason Randolph as Post Historian and Webmaster. Douglas Kirby will remain as the Boy Scout Chartered Organization Representative with assistants Brain Terry working with Legion Boy Scout Troop 289 and Christine Moore working with Legion Scouts BSA Girl Troop 21. Appointed Executive Board members to the Post 289 Kenneth Hankinson, Chis Lynch, and Richard Pryor.
Post 289 holds its monthly membership meetings on the third Tuesday of the month at 6 p.m. at the Montgomery County Clarksville Public Library in Veterans Plaza. Guests are welcome, and the post is always looking for veterans interested in joining to help work together to arrange access to services and to assist veterans in the local community.
CSM Gary W. Crisp Post 289 was also notified that their Clarksville Post was over at 107% membership and is one of the biggest American Legion Posts in the State of Tennessee. The Tennessee Department Commander Lanny Culver coined Bob Grigsby Post Adjutant for his work on Post Recruiting. Post 289 just broke the Post record by going over 300 members.
Post 289 is the only legion in Clarksville with an Honor/Color Guard; they are looking for volunteers to honor our veterans in post everlasting. Post 289’s Color Guard participates in parades, grand openings and many other events in Clarksville.
