Air Quality Alert issued for Christian, Trigg county areas

The National Weather Service has issued an Air Quality Alert for Christian and Trigg Counties, and the Clarksville area.

It’s likely the alert is caused by an increase of smoke in the atmosphere from wildfires in Canada—there have been several days recently where the smoke has been in the area, but the National Weather Service in Paducah says it is now more pronounced.

Some air quality monitors are showing an increase in “particulate matter” which officials believe to be from the smoke.

The Air Quality Alert will be in effect from midnight Monday until midnight Tuesday.

The general public is not likely to be affected but children and adults with a respiratory disease such as Asthma should limit prolonged outdoor exertion.
