CLARKSVILLE, TN (CLARKSVILLE NOW) – During the last few years of change in the media landscape, Clarksville Now has emerged as the primary source for local news in Clarksville, Montgomery County and Fort Campbell.

That role comes with several responsibilities, and one of them is to give our audience the best possible digital news experience. Today, we’ve taken another major step in that direction with the long-awaited launch of a new Clarksville Now app!

While our main ClarksvilleNow.com website provides an excellent mobile experience, the previous version of our app had become, frankly, terrible. After several months of research into options, design, testing and tweaking, we’re proud to launch the new Clarksville Now app, which you can update or install today in the iPhone App Store or on Android, Google Play Store.

In addition to being clean, free and easy to navigate, the new app includes several additional new features.

Notifications by topic

As soon as you download the app, you’ll be asked if you want to Allow Notifications. Be sure to click Allow! You’ll get a push alert when we have breaking news on severe weather, traffic jams, major crime and more.

New with this app are notifications by category. When you allow notifications, you can select which categories you’re interested in:

  • News
  • Crime
  • Weather
  • Sports
  • Military
  • Business
  • Entertainment

You can select as many as you want, and when we have significant local news on one of those topics, you’ll get a push notification.

If you prefer, you can also still receive breaking news text alerts by texting NEWS to 43414.

Links to local podcasts

In recent months, we’ve launched two new podcasts, and you can easily find them on the new app:

  • Your Week, Your News: We weigh in on the week’s top stories.
  • Your Week, Your Sports: This week’s hottest sports, plus interviews.
  • Clarksville’s Conversation: Interviews with local people who are making a difference.

Livestreams

You can use the app to listen to 5 Star Media Group radio stations on the go, at work, outdoors or wherever you happen to be with free livestreams.

Click Listen Live on the app to find these livestreams:

  • NewZee 105.5, Clarksville’s news talk station.
  • ESPN Clarksville, the local sports leader.
  • Beaver 100.3, the best country music.

  • Z97.5, everything that rocks.
