CLARKSVILLE, TN (CLARKSVILLE NOW) – First responders in Clarksville-Montgomery County were recognized Wednesday for their service to the community at the Clarksville Civitan Club’s weekly meeting.

The Public Safety Awards is an annual event for the Civitan Club to honor a Clarksville Police Officer, Montgomery County Sheriff’s Deputy, Clarksville Fire Rescue Firefighter, Montgomery County Fire Service Firefighter, and Paramedic from Montgomery County Emergency Medical Service.

Montgomery County Sheriff’s Deputy Cody Evans. Evans was recognized for teaming up with two other Sheriff’s Deputies as they responded to a house fire on Briarwood Road on May 22,2022. They discovered that two children were still in the home, so they entered the house and got the children out safely.

Clarksville Police Officer Erett Oden. Oden has been a law enforcement officer for 18 years after retiring from more than 25 years in the U.S. Army. Oden serves in the Training Division of the police department and Chief David Crockrarell says he is amazed at the efficiency, reliability, and safety conscious attitude of Officer Oden.

Clarksville Fire Rescue Emergency Medical Responder (EMR) Mark Provo. Provo was chosen as Clarksville Fire Rescue Employee of the Year, because of his work-ethic, professionalism, compassion, and dedication to his career as a Firefighter/EMR. Provo is responsible for responding to medical calls, vehicle accidents, and rescue and fire incidents.

Montgomery County Emergency Medical Service (EMS) Paramedic/Field Training Officer Rachel Turner. Turner has been with Montgomery County EMS since 2014 and EMS Cpt. Brian McNeeley said Turner’s integrity, positive attitude. and hard work ethic reflects greatly upon herself, her patient care, and Montgomery County EMS.

Montgomery County Fire Service Firefighter Jonathan Witten. Witten is the 2022 Firefighter of the Year for Montgomery County Fire Service. Montgomery County Fire Chief Ed Baggett said that Witten has demonstrated a level of commitment and dedication that is second to none and has been eager to attend training events beyond what is required.
