CLARKSVILLE, TN (CLARKSVILLE NOW) – Clarksville’s Street Department Director, Dr. Ihab Habib, has resigned. His letter of resignation was accepted by Mayor Joe Pitts on Friday, March 10.

No specific reasons have been stated for Habib’s resignation, and he has declined to comment on the matter.

“I am grateful for Mark’s willingness to step into this role and help us through the next 90-120 days, or until our annual budget process is complete,” said Clarksville Mayor Joe Pitts in the press release. “”We thank Ihab Habib for his service and wish him well in his future endeavors.”

The city explained in the release that the search for a permanent director is currently underway. Effective Monday, March 13, Mark Riggins has assumed the role of Interim Director of the Clarksville Street Department. He has taken on these duties along with remaining as general manager of Clarksville Gas & Water.

The city added that through the transition, maintaining accelerated momentum for the mayor’s Transportation 2020+ Plan continues to be the leading priority.
