OAK GREOVE, KY (CLARKSVILLE NOW) – Starting early Tuesday morning, volunteers with Fort Care were busy supporting military families by handing out free boxes and bags of food at the Oak Grove Equestrian Center.

“We are doing the Fort Care Honor Package Grocery Giveaway honoring military soldiers, military families, and veterans for their service, and we have enough for 800 families,” said Ron Fahy with Fort Care.

Fahy added that the boxes and bags contained cereal, macaroni and cheese, spaghetti, canned fruit and vegetables, snacks and Clorox bleach wipes. Fahy added that some of the food and items were donated by YAIPak Outreach and the Amish.

One military veteran, Romeo Rosales, said he was very glad to receive the food.

“This free food, especially for veterans, God bless, it helps a lot,” he told Clarksville Now.

Close to 40 volunteers, consisting mostly of off-duty Fort Campbell soldiers and veterans, were there to hand out the food as people sat in their vehicles at the drive-thru food distribution.
