N.J. man, 24, charged in crash that killed woman in N.Y.

A 24-year-old New Jersey man was charged with criminally negligent homicide in a crash that killed another driver Tuesday night in Rockland County, New York.

Corey Womack was driving “erratically” west on Route 59 in Clarkstown at about 7:15 p.m. when he collided with an SUV near the intersection of Broome Boulevard, according to local police.

The impact of the crash pushed both vehicles over a curb and into the parking lot of an adjacent shopping center.

The woman driving the SUV was brought to an area hospital where she died of her injuries. She has not been identified pending family notification.

Womack was treated for injuries at a local hospital. He was also charged with reckless driving.

Anyone who witnessed the accident or has video is asked to call Clarkstown police at 845-639-5840.

Police didn’t provide a hometown for Womack, but his social media page says he is from Passaic. He is being held at the jail in Clarkstown ahead of an arraignment. Attorney information wasn’t immediately available.
