SHINNSTON, W.Va. (WV News) — Jackie (Jack) Paul Williams, also known as Big Cinncy and Pap, passed away on March 22, 2023, at the age of 66.
Jack was born on March 24, 1956, in Clarksburg, WV, to Arlie and Wilma Williams.
He attended Shinnston Elementary School and Shinnston High School before earning a Bachelor of Arts in Education from Fairmont State University and Pensacola Christian College. He went on to earn a Master of Arts in Education from Salem International University.
For 30 years, Jack taught high school chemistry in South Carolina and West Virginia, with the majority of his time being at Lincoln High School, and worked as a chemistry professor at Fairmont State University for 13 years.
He was also a lifelong coach in South Carolina and West Virginia, coaching various high school teams in football, basketball, soccer and baseball at Lincoln High School and Grace Christian School in South Carolina.
Jack was instrumental in leading Lincoln’s first AA baseball state championship in 2003.
He coached his boys in all matters of youth sports and served as the head coach of baseball, soccer and basketball at Grace Christian School in South Carolina.
Jack was also the athletic director at Grace Christian and coached his granddaughter, along with his son, for the Marion County U10 Girls soccer team, which was the final chapter in his accomplished coaching career.
Jack will be remembered as a follower, messenger and believer in his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. He wanted to be an example to all, especially his family and friends.
Jack was a fantastic husband to his wife, Becky, a faithful son to his parents, and a wise Christian example of what a Dad should be to his sons and their wives. He was also an unconditional, loving and caring Christian example to his grandchildren and the best Pap in the world.
Jack was a knowledgeable, hardworking, smart coach, professor and teacher.
He loved Christian, ’70s and country music and could even sing and play the guitar a bit.
Jack was a strong-willed, disciplined man with values and integrity who died in faith, believing fully in his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ and ensuring his place in heaven for all of eternity.
Jack is survived by his wife, Becky Williams; sons, Jackie Paul Williams II and Seth Williams; daughters-in-law, Jenna Williams and Kuirsta Williams; sisters, Cathy Williams and Beth Williams Cohen; brother-in-law, Roger McIntyre, his wife Rhonda, and their kids, Jade, Tre, and Trent, and their partners, Hunter, Nicole, and Allison; sister-in-law, Susan Pratt, and her sons, Daniel, Adam, and Chris, and their wives, Melissa, Corey, and Shannon; and grandkids, Reagan, Aiden, Greyson, and Declan.
Family and friends will be received at Harmer Funeral Home on Sunday, March 26, 2023, from 2-7 p.m. A funeral service will be held at the funeral home on Monday, March 27, 2023, at 11 a.m. Interment will follow at Rest Haven Memorial Gardens in Fairmont.
In lieu of flowers, please make a donation in Jack’s honor to WVU Children’s Hospital.
