Clairton man allegedly told bank employees he was a ‘mob boss,’ charged with attempted robbery

A Clairton man is in the Allegheny County Jail after allegedly telling bank employees he was a mob boss and directing them to put money on his bank card.

Daniel Bizzelle Jr., 31, of Clairton, is charged with robbery, possession and public drunkenness for an incident Wednesday afternoon.

West Mifflin police were called to First Commonwealth Bank at 6015 Mountainview Drive for a report of an attempted robbery.

Bizzelle allegedly told bank employees he was a mob boss and and he wanted $50,000 placed on his bank card. He said he would take $10,000 if they couldn’t give him the full amount, then allegedly said, “This is a stick up,” and “No need to get police involved,” according to the complaint.

When asked to clarify what he wanted, Bizzelle allegedly left the bank.

Police were called around the same time to Century III Chevrolet, where employees told Channel 11 he tried to buy a 2023 Chevy Camaro, eventually telling them he was leaving with it one way or another.

Employees told Channel 11 he referred to himself as The President and King David to the salesman and asked other customers to co-sign for him. Police made the connection after speaking with bank tellers.

“They gave us a description of someone who just tried robbing a bank up the road, and we were like, ‘Yeah, that’s him, he’s sitting right here,’” said Devin Hoffman, the sales/finance manager at Century III Chevrolet.

Bizzelle was taken into custody at the car dealership. The dealership provided Channel 11 surveillance video of the moment police stormed the showroom, taking Bizzelle into custody. He allegedly had a small amount of marijuana on him and smelled of alcohol and marijuana.

“It’s not something we want to take lightly. We want to make sure everyone at the dealership is safe, and we want to make sure no one’s life is in danger,” Hoffman said.

Bizzelle was placed in the Allegheny County Jail, unable to post bond.
