Zoning. It’s an intimidating word, I know. But it's arguably the hottest topic in Cincinnati right now. Let me tell you why.

Sydney Franklin here. I worked with city government reporter Sherry Coolidge to answer some of your most pressing questions about Connected Communities, the city’s plan to overhaul its 100-year-old zoning code.

This is a really big deal. Over a hundred other cities across the country have done it or are currently undergoing zoning reform in an attempt to increase their housing supplies, reduce rents and desegregate communities.

Sounds important, right? That’s why Cincinnatians are upset they haven’t been engaged on the plan in way they’re used to, which has led to a mess of confusion and controversy. So we polled neighborhood community councils, listened in on public meetings and talked to average citizens about their thoughts on the city’s rezoning proposal.
