Watch: Reds top prospect finds out he is getting called up to MLB

In a rare moment of excitement for Cincinnati Reds fans this season, the team announced that it is calling up top prospect Elly De La Cruz to the Major Leagues for his debut on Tuesday.

We also had an opportunity to see the exact moment that Cruz found out he was getting promoted to the show.

That scene unfolded in a hotel lobby just after the Reds Triple-A team, the Louisville Bats, had completed a series in Worcester.

Cruz is not only the Reds' top prospect, he is one of the best prospects in all of baseball and has a chance to be a star for the team to build around for the foreseeable future.

The 21-year-old spent the first two months of the season in Triple-A and ripped the cover off the ball, hitting .298 with a 1.031 OPS in 38 games.

He has a .908 OPS over 263 games in four Minor League seasons.

Not only is Cruz in the lineup for Tuesday's game against the Milwaukee Brewers, but he is also batting clean-up in his Major League debut.

The Reds are 28-33 entering play on Tuesday and in third place in the National League Central, 5.5 games out of first place.

It remains to be seen how much of an immediate impact De La Cruz can make as a rookie, but he will definitely give their fans a shot of excitement.
