Bengals DE Sam Hubbard reveals lofty goal for 2023

Bengals DE Sam Hubbard, who is most notably known for the 98-yard "Rumble In The Jungle," is heading into his sixth season in the NFL and wants to do something he has yet to in his five-year career.

"I got double-digits in '21 including playoffs, but I want regular-season double-digits," Hubbard told reporters at Cincinnati's voluntary practices. "This is the best I've felt in my whole career by a landslide physically."

Hubbard, who turns 28 in June, has been close but has yet to reach double digit sacks since entering the league in 2018. He had 6.5 regular-season sacks in 2022 but came the closest in 2019 with 8.5.

The Bengals' 2018 third-round pick has been an impactful player for Cincinnati but hasn't been named with the upper echelon of pass rushers in the league. If Hubbard can reach double digit sacks in 2023, he could earn his way into the conversation.

However, Hubbard did reveal that having double digit sacks isn't his main goal in 2023.

"My main goal and only goal is to win the Super Bowl," Hubbard added.

The Bengals have been close over the past two years, making back-to-back AFC title games and a Super Bowl appearance, but have yet to hoist the Lombardi Trophy.

If Hubbard can have the season he is hoping for in 2023, it may just be enough to catapult Cincinnati back to the Super Bowl in hopes of winning the franchise's first championship.
