PFF Names Bryan Brown Among College Football's Top-10 Defensive Coordinators

Brown turned things around in a big way at Louisville last season.

CINCINNATI — PFF views Cincinnati's Bryan Brown as the 10th-best defensive coordinator in the country heading into the 2023 season.

Brown came over from Louisville with Scott Satterfield and fielded a defense that led the nation in sacks last year (50).

"After four years as Louisville’s defensive coordinator," Max Chadwick wrote. "Brown is following head coach Scott Satterfield to Cincinnati for its first season as a member of the Big 12 conference. His first three years with the Cardinals were less than inspiring, as his defenses finished 105th, 58th, and 102nd in the country, respectively, in EPA per play. That all changed this past season, as Louisville improved 90 spots up to 12th this past season. Time will tell if 2022 was an anomaly, or if Brown is just getting started as an elite defensive play-caller."

Brown's defense has looked the part so far in Spring Practice.

Deshawn Pace is adjusting nicely to a more free-flowing position and the defense has forced far more turnovers than big plays allowed in team periods so far.

There is a ton of returning talent for Brown to work with on the Cincinnati front seven, including All-American defensive tackle Dontay Corleone.
