The Cincinnati Bengals invest in their offensive line

The Cincinnati Bengals are investing in their offensive line this offseason. The Bengals have needed to upgrade the offensive line since they drafted quarterback Joe Burrow in 2020. They added the best free agent offensive tackle in free agent last week when they s igned Orlando Brown Jr. , who played with the Super Bowl-winning Kansas City Chiefs last year. They will re-sign a guard for next year’s team.

According to Aaron Wilson with KPRC, the Bengals will re-sign offensive guard Max Scharping for the 2023 season.

The Houston Texans drafted Scharping in the second round of the 2019 NFL Draft. He was waived by the Texans last August, and the Bengals signed him off waivers to add depth. Scharping played 30 snaps in the regular season for the Bengals.

Scharping was much more involved during the playoffs when he replaced Alex Cappa due to injury. He earned a 41.3 overall grade by Pro Football Focus for his play in the playoffs. Scharping gave up three sacks and 14 pressures in his 136 postseason pass-blocking snaps for the Bengals.
