GRM Networks and FRS offer grants for local organizations
GRM Networks has partnered with the Foundation for Rural Service (FRS), the philanthropic arm of NTCA – The Rural Broadband Association, to offer grants that support local organizations in their efforts to build and sustain a high quality of life in rural America. MoDOT upgrades sidewalks in Chula, Wheeling, Ludlow for ADA compliance
The Missouri Department of Transportation (MoDOT) is progressing with sidewalk projects in Chula, Wheeling, and Ludlow. MoDOT Northwest District Eastern Area Engineer Michael Marriott reports that the department has an Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) transition plan required at the federal level. The plan is set to be completed in the next few years.
Trenton Utility Committee recommends continuing Verizon lease on water tower
The Trenton Utility Committee will recommend to the Trenton City Council to continue with the existing contract on a water tower antenna lease with Verizon. City Administrator Ron Urton reported that Verizon had approached the city about renegotiating or doing a one-time buyout, but the committee on May 21 was not interested. The renegotiation would have included a new rent amount of $700 per month starting in January with a 10% rent escalator every five years. The buyout would have been for $100,000 for an easement for 40 years.

Spickard Board of Education approves updates to the comprehensive improvement plan
The Spickard R-2 Board of Education on May 20 approved changes to the Comprehensive School Improvement Plan as recommended by the CSIP Committee. The changes include updating committee members and changing testing information from Star to iReady. Other changes include adding Terra Nova testing for kindergarten to second grade to Goal 1.1, noting professional development attended by staff this year, and including information regarding the new reading success plans. Additionally, Goal 3.2 related to student behavior has been extended.
