Colonels Notch Another School Record at Region Track Meet

The Christian County Colonel track and field team made another entry into the record book at the Class 3A Region 1 meet Tuesday at Marshall County High School.

The 400-meter relay team of Cyrus Greenwade II, Dahzmeon Brown, Trey Blanton, and Jayvion Hawkins set another school record in winning the region title and advancing to the state meet. Their time of 43.17 seconds bettered their previous school best of 43.60 seconds set two months ago.

The same group finished second in the 800-meter run at 1:31.19 and will also head to next week’s state meet at the University of Kentucky.

The top two finishers at the region automatically advance to the state meet, while the following ten best times/distances statewide also advance.

The 3200-meter relay team finished in sixth place (8:53.88) and the 1600-meter relay team was eighth (3:47.17).

SPRINTS

Trey Blanton finished in fourth place in the 100-meter dash. His time of 11.03 seconds just missed Tim Wharton’s 2005 school record by .03 seconds.

He also finished fifth in the 200 meters (22.85).

Jayvion Hawkins came in 12th place in the 100-meter dash (11.49) and was sixth in the 200 meters (23.10).

Cyrus Greenwade II was ninth in the 400 meters (54.01).

Dahzmeon Brown was 17th in the 400-meter run (58.12).

MIDDLE DISTANCE

Michael Webb came in 11th place in the 1600-meter run (5:02.82).

Hector Munoz was 16th in the 800 meters (2:16.89).

HURDLES

Antonio Rubio was 12th in the 300-meter hurdles (51.48).

FIELD EVENTS

Christopher McCarley was fourth in the discus throw (124-1) and fifth in the shot put with a toss of 40-3.75.

Cyrus Greenwade II was ninth in the long jump (17-11.75).

As a team, Christian County finished in eighth place with 32 points.
