Board Leadership Training Coming to Chinook

March 22, 2023

In partnership with the Montana State University (MSU) Extension Local Government Center, MSU Extension Blaine County and the Blaine County Commissioners are bringing a board leadership training to Chinook on March 28. Tuesday’s workshop will be held at the Blaine County Fairground’s Commercial Building beginning at 6:00 p.m.

This workshop is available free of charge and is intended for individuals holding a position on a board, those who are part of a non-profit or other organization, and anyone else interested in learning more about how board leadership works.

According to MSU Blaine County Ag, Natural Resources, and 4-H Extension Agent Julianne S. Snedigar, high-functioning local government depends on effective locally appointed and elected board members. With this belief in mind, the training intends to provide information that will enable boards to be more effective as well as ensure they are following the law.

Potential topics for this training include Principles of Good Governance, Roles and Responsibilities of Board Members/Trustees, and Board Member Liability. The training will also cover subjects such as Montana’s open meeting laws, the citizens’ right to participate, managing public comment, and Montana’s Code of Ethics.

Anyone interested in attending is asked to RSVP by calling the Extension Office at 406-357-3200 by Friday, March 24. Questions and requests for additional information can be directed to Snedigar. All groups, organizations, non-profit, and others wanting to learn more about Board Leadership are invited to participate.
