A St. Clair County man was hospitalized with life-threatening injuries on June 3 following a crash in China Township.

According to the St. Clair County Sheriff’s Office, deputies responded to a side-by-side crash at the intersection of McKinley and Puttygut roads in China Township shortly after 9 p.m. At the scene, they found a 2022 blue Ford Maverick rolled onto the driver’s side.

The driver, a 35-year-old East China Township man, was found unresponsive and transported to McLaren Macomb with life-threatening injuries.

A 35-year-old St. Clair man was the only other passenger and was not injured, the sheriff’s office said.

Authorities believe the driver had been doing donuts in the intersection prior to the crash. Alcohol is believed to be a factor.

The investigation is ongoing.
