Four juveniles taken into custody following armed robbery & vehicle pursuit, police say
MARION, N.C. (WLOS) — An investigation is underway after a Marion man was robbed at gunpoint by juveniles, police say. The Marion Police Department says on Saturday, Nov. 25, around 5 p.m., a man and a juvenile were in the parking lot of Lowe's Home Improvement on Highway 70 when they were approached by a juvenile male. There was a verbal exchange, and money was voluntarily given to the juvenile male.

Press release from Asheville-Buncombe Homeless Coalition:. Code Purple for Wednesday, 11/29/23. Additional weather information found at weather.gov. Code Purple is a coordinated effort among Asheville and Buncombe County shelters and other organizations to provide emergency overflow shelter to people experiencing homelessness during extremely cold weather (at or below 32 degrees, including wind chill, or 33-40 degrees with precipitation). During Code Purple, participating shelters will provide more beds with fewer requirements than their typical programming. Code Purple sites will also work with participants to refer them to ongoing shelter and housing options.
Weekly Safety Report: Theft and Rape Conviction Shake Hendersonville
This week in Hendersonville, North Carolina, two incidents occurred that raised concerns for the community's safety. In the first incident, a thief was captured on surveillance video stealing approximately $600 worth of meat from a local restaurant. The suspect was also seen stealing a generator from the restaurant's food truck later in the week. In the second incident, a man named David Bruce Pressley was found guilty of rape and other offenses, resulting in him being sentenced to life in prison without the possibility of early release.
